Your photography is stunning. Thank you for adding these. Wow! 🙂
Thank you so much!
Great entry for the challenge
Thank you Jake!
Beautiful, rich colors. You have a wonderful talent, Jeff!
Thank you very much. It means a great deal to me to hear that others enjoy my images as much as I do.
I agree with Cris – the colors are wonderful and the composition is good! Thanks for sharing. I like your loon picture on the header, too!
Thank you Ruth. I took a look at your website, and considering the talent I saw displayed there, high praise indeed. Again, thank you!
Also, thank you for the kind words about my loon photo. It is one of, but not the, favorite photographs I have of these wonderful visitors to our lake. My favorite didn’t work well for my banner, unfortunately.
Hey Jeff,
Wow great photographs (especially the bears). Where was the bear photograph taken? And how close were you to her? (hopefully not very since she was with her cubs). I love photographing bears, they’re sunch beautiful creatures.
Nate
Thank you Nate.
The bears were very close, too close if you ask me, but I didn’t get that close on purpose. Only a little crop for composition, shot at 200mm. I was sitting at my campsite in Crawford Notch, and when I looked up, there they were. I was staying at Crawford Notch CG (2220 in the NH DeLorme, page/map 44). They were right across a stream from my site. My guess is 50-75 ft away. Mom was actually sleeping when I first heard/saw them, and after she looked up for this shot, actually went back to sleep. I plan to go back this summer in hopes of seeing them again. They are no strangers to raiding the campsites of tourists who fail to heed the proper care of food and trash warnings posted everywhere. In fact, the people two sites down from me the day I took this photo, woke up to mom right in the middle of their site, yikes!
And yes, I was more than a little freaked out to find myself this close to “Mom and the kids” 🙂
Wow, good thing they were already so accustomed to being near people! I’ve had similar encounters with bears, including a black bear running into my campsite in Yosemite National Park at dusk while I washed dishes from dinner. My favorite photograph that I have of “mother and kids” was taken in Alaska. I was about 25 – 35 ft away, but they were on shore and I was (semi) safely in a rowboat at the mouth of the stream.
That sounds like a nice place to camp, I’ll have to look into in for the summer maybe.
I enjoyed it. Wasn’t too crowded, the sites were clean, will definitely go back. If I bring my wife and daughter though, she is going to make me get a cabin because of the bears 😉
Oh yea, thanks for the like on my fan page. Can never have too many of those!
Love the rich colours in the first image!
Thank you. A rainy day, a circular polarizer, and a little bit of magic in post (shhh, don’t tell) and there you have it.
That’s awesome you got a photo of a bear cub and mama!
I love all three shots and agree that the first two are peaceful!!! Amazing capture with the mama bear and her cups, but to me…that says “run….get out of dodge!!!” Great pictures though – peaceful or run – I love it!
Oh don’t think I wasn’t torn between “getting the shot” and “getting out of Dodge!”
