Sunrise, and a five-minute walk.
One of the things I love most about living on a lake are the ready-made photo opportunities it presents me with.
Even when I have no set plans to go out making pictures, all it takes is quick glance out the window to have me reaching for my camera and tripod.
With less than a five-minute walk bringing me to waters edge, there’s almost always time to make a picture.

Is there a place close to home that inspires you to grab your camera, even when you had no plans to do so?
Ah so very beautiful and calm! A really great capture, wonderful composition!
Thank you very much Elina. Now that summer is coming to and end the lake is especially calm and peaceful.
You’re more motivated than me π I too live near a beautiful lake but I must admit I let life get in the way of a good photograph. Beautiful shot!
Thank you very much. If you’ve happened to spend any amount of time reading my blog, you’ll find I’m more likely to let a photograph get in the way of life, namely in the form of sleep deprivation π
I used to be like that, but somewhere in time, I’ve lost my mojo π¦
All it takes is a few spectacular mornings lake-side and I bet you mojo comes flooding back! π
Perfection once again Jeff! It made me sigh in happiness and reminded me that if I had the choice to live anywhere I wanted, it would definitely be on a lake :).
Thank you Cindy. If you have the opportunity, even if only for a brief vacation stay, I highly recommend it.
Awesome photo. I live by the lake, but never had taken so mighty photo. Congratulations!
Thank you very much! You’ll just have to get up bright and early one morning and give it a try π
Beautiful image, as always. You are fortunate to be located in such a picturesque setting. I’d need to do some scouting to find a place. I get better access to sunsets. π
Thanks Dorothy. Sunsets are great too, often with even better color than sunrise. Think of them as backwards sunrises π
This is the perfect way to start the day. You are a fortunate man!
I can’t disagree with you on either count π
It is amazing what five minutes can do for you and for the rest of us who get to experience what you created in those five minutes! Beautiful!
Thank you Sheila. I certainly think that five minute walk from my house was worth the effort, I’m glad you think so too.
Access to any body of water at sunrise is truly a joy. I’m very happy to count myself among the lucky ones!
I hear you Gary! Lake, pond, river or stream, starting out the day near any of them is the start to a perfect day.
Gives one a warm glow looking at pictures like that. I always take my camera when out walking, even if not planned to take photos or the weather is not very good; you never know. Can’t say the same for my tripod, so awkward lumbering that around.
You’re so right Chrisstov, and quite often the more unsettled the weather, the more dramatic the photos. I almost never leave my tripod at home. Very, very rarely do I hand hold my camera. So rarely in fact that I don’t have a camera strap on it. They just get in the way on the tripod. Your photos will always be sharper when using a tripod too π
Stunning. I have no doubt you would have a fantastic time photographing the natural imagery here in Australia π The Northern Territory (where I am from) has so many amazing opportunities to get brilliant snaps.
Just out of curiosity, do you have a Red Bubble account?
Thank you, again Lou! π I would absolutely love to see Australia. I’ve always dreamed of diving with great whites on the Great Barrier Reef, as well as seeing the rest of your beautiful country.
As for Red Bubble, no I do not. Why do you ask? Do you?
I do have a red Bubble Account, though use it to primarily buy other peoples work in the various offered formats.
I have purchased some gorgeous prints and framed photographs off the site.
I understand people sometimes do not like to go down that route, though generally whenever I find an artist that I really enjoy, I try and get them to upload for me so I can purchase their stuff… lol
Have you got another area where you sell your works? (before I start beating you with a stick to get the Bubble?)
I guess I’ll have to look a little further into Red Bubble then won’t I? Can’t have you beating me with a stick, that just won’t do at all. In the mean time stop on by and spend some quality time HERE And since I’m now entering shameless self promotion mode, if you have nothing better to do you might as well head on over HERE and become a fan π Basically, all of my images are available for sale. Some photographs that may show up on my blog or my fan page may not be on my website though, (can you say procrastination?) So if you see anything you like, just ask.
I have no problem asking.. lol
Expect unreasonable demands anytime soon and into the future! (For starters, are the beach series up there)
Which ones? I have a lot.
I’ll find it and leave a comment on it π
I assume you’ve already seen it then?
*blank stares* LOL
Oh, I assumed you had seen them but couldn’t remember where. Silly me.

FYI, I do have an RB account. Never actually used it though. I did just upload my first photo to it though. Leet me know if there is a specific photo or product you’re interested in and I’ll get it on there ASAP.
