Journey with caution weary traveler.

For it is All Hallows Eve and a witch is about.

ย Stay to the road and avoid the woods, being ever mindful of the sun. When the shadows lengthen as dusk draws near, it is wise to seek shelter for the evening.

The night belongs to her.

Should you find yourself on the road after dark, be ever vigilant, moving in silence, lest her gaze befall you.

  1. Great model & costume! Truly rich in detail and color, as I’ve come to expect from your photos. I see from your tags this might have been shot in Salem, my birthplace. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you very much! Yea, my model was great. She was actually one of several street performers who were dressed in full costume, performing for tips. I don’t know if it was the big white 70-200 lens on my camera, making me stand out from the cell phone toting masses as more than just a casual photographer, or what, but she was nice enough to stare right down the lens for me several times. My only regret is that I didn’t stop to give her my card or get her contact info. I’d love to be able to send these to her.

It was in fact in Salem. Though I’ve been there several times before, this past weekend was the first time during Halloween time. I will definitely go back again next year, we had a ton of fun.

    1. Thank you Stephanie! I am pretty pleased with how this came out. Since I don’t really photograph people all that often. Of course she was a big help, giving me several really great “looks” while she was performing.

    1. She was an amazing performer. I only wish I had the forethought to talk to her and give her my card. I’ve been trying, through several Salem, Mass. and Salem Witch related Facebook pages to track her down. I’m a little surprised at myself with how well the photos I made of her came out, and I like to give them to her.

        1. I guess all I need to do is pretend she’s a beautiful waterfall, or some wild animal, and I’m good to go ๐Ÿ˜‰

Though I don’t intend to break into the portrait market any time soon.

            1. Thank you very much, that’s very kind of you.

I know it would be much easier to earn money as a photographer by shooting portraits, I’m just not sure how far I’d want to take it just to earn a buck. Now if I am able to track down this witch, photographing street performers like her, and her friends, would be really fun. Unlike a normal studio session. And if I can make a little extra on the side, all the better.

              1. you’re right about that one too! You have to stick with what you like, but street art is like nature art and this particular shot is ample example of the beauty you succeed in showing. That would add one more theme to your work!

  2. What an amazing photo and she indeed is spectacular model. I enjoyed reading your responses to other comments. I’d love to visit Salem sometime. Whose words are those before the photo … yours?

    1. Thanks! Yes, if you ever get the chance, Salem is worth the visit. It is especially fun during Halloween time, but prepare for the crowds.

And yes, the words are all mine. Not too bad or over done I hope.

      1. Oh gosh no, the writing is excellent! In fact, I was a little embarrassed to ask, thinking that some famous person I should recognize wrote them. ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. Nope, it’s all me. I’ve been told I write well, which is what got me through English class in school. I absolutely hated English too, it’s one of the reasons I chose not to go to college. But I could BS my way through a writing assignment like it was nothing. And get good grades too ๐Ÿ™‚ Who knows, maybe one day I will be famous and someone will quote me ๐Ÿ˜‰
