…but when it does, and the skiers start to arrive, it’s like a party.

Large crowds of brightly clothed skiers and spectators gather in the bowl of Tuckerman Ravine. Some in preparation to continue their climb in order to ski down, others are there for the pure spctical of watching the action.

    1. Same here. The first time I hiked into Tucks for sunrise I was amazed at the number of people we passed on the way back down. There were at least 1,000 – 1,200 people in an almost continuous line from the base of the ravine all the way back down to Pinkham Notch. Another thing that surprised me was who was heading up with their skis and boards. It wasn’t just the 20-30 something adrenaline junky male. It was men and women ranging from around 9-10 to well past their 60’s.
