Winter Dramatic, Bellamy Reservoir.

It’s All In The Timing.

There are two times during the year that I make sure to always have my camera in my car during the work week. In late winter and summer the days are just the right length where sunset roughly coincides with the time I get off work at my day job.

As luck would have it, my drive home brings me by this wonderful scene overlooking the Bellamy Reservoir in Madbury, NH.

When I saw the look of the sky as I was getting into the car I knew I’d be stopping on my way home. Luckily the ice was still plenty thick enough to walk on as the shoreline brush makes getting a clean foreground all but impossible.

The recent weather also helped when it came to making interesting photos here. Since there really isn’t anything of great interest to utilize as a foreground in my photos, the recent warm weather left the ice covered in pools of meltwater surrounded by some very interesting textures to work with.

So for the next few weeks I’ll have my camera with me, every day during the workweek. Not just on the weekends as I do during the rest of the year.

  1. Jeff, I find your information very, very helpful but I am going to ask you to cut the number of emails to me down to once a week. Many thanks, Macky

    1. I appreciate the feedback, but each time I publish a new post an email notification is sent out to all of my subscribers. I’ll look into the settings on my end, but as far as I know there’s no way for me to change that. As much as I hate to see you go as a subscriber I fear the only way for you to not receive an email as each post is published is for you to unsubscribe.

      Sorry for the inconvenience.

  2. WordPress works in amazing ways! and yes, as soon as you follow someone you get a mail upon activity. I looked to cancel that out, but failed too. Lovely shot and I like how you kept the blue palette and did not colour correct it.

  3. Wow Jeff this sure is a sight to see! Just plain gorgeous! Oh as an FYI to your subscribers there is a way to stop the emails from posts to folks they subscribe to. They have to turn off the email notification at their end. It’s somewhere in their preferences. I did that many moons ago so it may take me some time to find it.

    1. Thanks David, and thanks for the tip. I was wondering if that might be the case. I know I can’t do much more than turn on or off the email subscription. I do recall that when Ive subscribed to other blogs or whatever, I’m often asked how frequently I want notifications.

  4. Found it. All folks have to do is click on the Reader tab. Then click on Followed sites. Then click on Manage and all the sites they follow will show up. Then the just select the sites the don’t want emails from and turn them off. Easy peasy.

      1. Notify me of new posts
Receive web and mobile notifications for new posts from this site.
        Email me new posts
        Email me new comments
This is from the settings button for every website I follow.Hmmm I see four choices that can be made.

Comments and thoughtful critiques are always welcome.
