Hmmmm.. never noticed before that spider webs can actually resemble spiders.
The pastel background is very unusual for webs, too, in my experience.

Diana, that background is the result of a bit of camera trickery. The web was actually in the woods on the edge of a pond. I achieved this shot by positioning the camera so that there was an opening in the trees on the far side of the web looking out over the pond. By using a telephoto lens and a focal length of 196mm, the resulting compression effect made the background appear much closer than it was. Those trees, with all of their beautiful autumn color were roughly 150 yards away and across the pond. The web itself was in the darker woods along the path I was hiking on.

Pretty impressive trickery — the only “darkness” of any kind is the supporting branch. Very nicely done.
